Jerry Kiersey – Our Founder
"While Jerry has left us physically, his energy is still undiminished and all around us"
Green Tiger Express was founded by Jerry Kiersey, a transport industry veteran whose vision, energy, and character shaped everything the company stands for today.
Jerry passed away on 4 May 2022, but his legacy lives on in the business he built, the team he assembled, and the values he instilled.
The Founding Story
Jerry’s road transport career began in 1973. He founded Blueflite Logistics in 1976, building it into a major nationwide distribution operation before selling it to DFDS in 1995.
When Toyota Ireland came to him in 1999, looking for a trusted partner to handle their vehicle deliveries exclusively, Jerry saw a new opportunity. He founded Green Tiger Express that same year, bringing David Delaney on board and assembling a team with the mindset and experience to build something exceptional.
The Man
Jerry was a transport operator, industry advocate, political activist, and champion of good causes. He was a past President of the Irish Road Haulage Association, a founding member of the Irish Transporters Consociate, and a driving force in shaping transport policy at national and EU level.
He was passionate about driver welfare, sustainable operations, and the communities around him. His granddaughter Niamh perhaps put it best: “I don’t think there’s anyone on earth who loves nature and all living things as much as he did.”
The Legacy
The business Jerry founded continues to thrive under the leadership of David Delaney and Sandra Dennehy, together with Justin Eynon in the UK. The newest trucks in the Green Tiger fleet carry Jerry’s name, a fitting tribute to the man who started it all.
We are proud of where we came from, and proud to carry his story forward.
